about the yoga studio
established 2004
My first yoga class was over 25 years ago. I was suffering from lower back pain and a friend recommended I try a Hatha yoga class – I had never even heard of yoga! Immediately upon walking into my first class I knew I was home.
I have studied Hatha and Raja yoga in the tradition of Sri Swami Sivananda, Rishikesh, India for several years. Included in my years of study is Ashtanga Yoga (the Eight Limbs of Yoga), yoga scripture (the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Brahma Sutras, etc.), esoteric study (the study of that which is not commonly known), and mindful living studies (chakras, chromotherapy, nutrition, etc.).
As a companion to the science of yoga I also study and practice astrology. From the point of yoga, astrology is both a science and a high spiritual art. At first glance, it is a map of the heavens at the time and place of a person’s birth, revealing simple personality characteristics. Essentially, however, astrology is a spiritual path leading to the development of one’s consciousness.
I enjoy working one on one with people, meeting them wherever they may be in their life and addressing their specific needs; whether they want to be able to touch their toes, have a disease/disorder to deal with, or want to know the meaning of life! The yoga studio is a peaceful place for people to come and explore.
